Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly
The goal of St. Paul's PACE is to help frail seniors continue to live safely and successfully in their own home.
We do this by providing caring services both at our Elm Street Center and in the seniors' home through the PACE Program.
Services include (but are not limited to) Primary Care Doctor and Specialists, medications, physical and occupational therapy, adult day program, home care (bathing, cleaning, shopping and meal preparation).
The PACE program is a unique program of coordinated care that offers elderly adults and their caregivers an innovative choice in health care. For many, it is a welcome alternative to nursing home care as participants, despite chronic health needs, can remain at home.
The PACE program was originally developed in the 1970s in San Francisco. The results were so positive that funding was provided so this model of care and services could be duplicated nationwide. There are over 80 PACE sites throughout the States, with almost 10 in California. St. Paul’s PACE program is the only program of its kind in San Diego and is funded by Medi-Cal, a Medi-Cal/Medicare combo, or private pay, in addition to generous donations.
