Roving Clinic: A Mobile Care Solution for Homebound Seniors
Mobile medical clinic for Seniors in San Diego
St. Paul’s PACE brings care directly to seniors where they live by means of our Roving Clinic, otherwise known as a mobile medical clinic. The idea for the Roving Clinic first came about during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, when our medical team brainstormed ways they could provide care to participants while limiting their exposure out in the community. St. Paul’s multidisciplinary medial team converted a PACE passenger van into a clinic-on-wheels, equipped with medical supplies and a wheelchair lift to provide care inside the van.
Roving Clinic 2.0
In an effort to provide even better care, St. Paul’s PACE has raised the funds to purchase several new, state-of-the-art Roving Clinics designed specifically for our homebound participants in our program. These vans will be fully equipped with the tools needed to care for seniors out in the community in order to keep them safe and limit their exposure.
Telehealth Care: Virtual Doctor Appointments for Seniors
Telehealth care is not a new concept for St. Paul’s PACE, but in an effort to adapt to the needs of seniors during the pandemic, we have implemented new telehealth systems and services. Our physicians and healthcare providers offer medical appointments by phone and by video conferencing.
This gives our participants accessible options to communicate with their healthcare providers without leaving the comfort of their own homes. During the pandemic, this has provided our seniors with peace of mind knowing they can get the care they need without risking their health and safety.
